I don’t know. It’s alright, I mean, at least I’m living, you know. I saved my eye by getting a transplant. My other face was rotting off of me, I didn’t have eyelids or nothing, and I lost my right eye because of it. And I damn near lost my left eye. But, you know, thankfully, you know, I got sent up here to Cleveland Clinic, and the doctors got a hold of me, and basically kept me from dying, you know.

So, you’ve got to be somewhat grateful for that. If I wanted any quality of life, to have a chance to save the sight in my left eye, and, hell, I wanted to see my grandchildren’s faces, and watch them open their presents. So, I had to do this.

I was under for 25 hours, and had like 50 doctors, 50 surgeons. It was an astronomical amount. When you come out a little bit from in between being sedated, and you have little moments of clarity, and, you know, you can sort of tell what’s going on, and you’re there, you’re not there – it’s a lot to deal with. It’s quite overwhelming. But you just got to keep the faith, you know. Put your shoulder to the ???? and push, you know.

We all have that basic desire to live. And when you get a face transplant, you’re going to be confronted with that realization that it’s a hard bit it’s going to be real hard. It’s worth it, though. You know, if you can live through it. It’s not a sure thing, but if you live through it, you’re going to be able to hug your loved ones. You’re going to be able to, you know, hold your grandbabies. Yeah. What you give up is nothing compared to what you gain, when it comes right down to it. When the rubber meets the road, you’re still sucking air and loving every minute of it.
